History

Applied Composites Engineering was founded in 1982 by Leigh and Donna Sargent as a small composites shop supporting the racing industry in Indianapolis. The foundation of quality and customer focus has been the source for the longevity and success over the past 25 years. Leigh brought a tooling background and composites expertise from Formula 1 in England, Donna provided the administration and financial controls.

The company transitioned from the racing industry in the early 1990’s to automotive tooling and support. This provided excellent experience that equipped Applied Composites Engineering to fabricate precision jigs, fixtures and gauging that we now supply to the Aerospace Industry. Through the 90’s this was the bread and butter for ACE but during this period both Aviation Repair and new product was entering our repertoire.

In the early 2000’s Ace strategically focused on Aviation Repair in both composites and metal fabrication for business jet and regional airlines. By 2005 it was obvious that aerospace was our next step. We are now proud to say that the business is evenly spread between aviation repair station and new business for primes, a balance that is both complimentary and cohesive.

We look forward to continued growth and success with our customers. It is our purpose to provide support, impeccable product and solutions to our customers.
