HISTORY
Applied Composites Engineering (ACE) was founded in 1982 by Leigh and Donna Sargent as a small composites shop supporting the racing industry in Indianapolis. Leigh brought a tooling background and composites expertise from Formula 1 in England, Donna provided the administration and financial knowledge.
In the early 1990’s ACE transitioned from the racing industry to automotive tooling and support. This provided excellent experience that equipped ACE to fabricate precision jigs, fixtures and gauging that ACE now supply to OEM’s for business jet, commercial aviation, military and UAV industries along with our own in house tooling.
With this experience, new markets began to emerge with demand for the design, engineering and tooling ACE provides. In 2000, ACE strategically focused on aviation repair in both composites and metal fabrication for business jet and regional airlines. By 2005, it was obvious that aerospace was the next step for ACE and has been our strategic focus and 100% of our business since 2007.
As ACE enters 30 years in business, we continue to stay focused on our two divisions, MRO and New Product. This mix has placed ACE in direct contact with the aircraft gaining firsthand knowledge of the challenges an aircraft’s environment possess. Mix this with our extensive knowledge of composites and it provides a rare mix of knowledge and expertise in the aerospace industry.
ACE continues to grow and with a 30 year foundation proves we are resilient company that will be here to support our customer’s needs for many years to come.
