We are pleased to announce Garret Mertz has joined Applied Composites as the General Manager of Applied Composites, Lake Forest.
Garret graduated with his MBA from the University of California San Diego and a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Technology from Humboldt State University. He also completed the Executive Strategic Leadership Program at the University of Oxford, UK.
Garret started his career at Meggitt in 2006 with the Operational Excellence Group Manufacturing Engineer in which he supported the deployment of the operational strategic alignment across eight businesses establishing KPIs, training and world class lean manufacturing “cells” in the production environment. He then moved into a General Manager role in which he led in safety, quality and delivery across 53 sites. Garret was then promoted to the VP of Global Operational Excellence, in which he supported 12 sites across the US, Mexico, UK and China. In this role he decreased past due orders, was appointed to JV Board of Directors, stabilized JV in OTD and profit while supporting multiple composite sites through various global crisis with key customers. He then transitioned to the VP of Divisional Operations for Meggitt Engines in which Responsible for developing, aligning, and leading operational objectives across 11 business, ensuring sustainable customer delivery at an annual growth rate of 35% while utilizing strategy deployment process to drive key operational initiatives. In Garret’s most recent role he was appointed as the Senior VP and General Manager of Meggitt Flow Control leading 500+ employees across 3 businesses generating $150 million in revenue. His focus was implementing a high-performance leadership team, while innovating process to drive highest sales and profit performance in history of the business.
Garret has experience in both Composite and 5 axis CNC equipment. He has received several awards with his most recent accolade being the Meggitt Leadership of the Year Award. Garret was unanimously nominated and awarded leader of the year for outstanding leadership by executive board in 2018.
